uninstall windows XP problem

I have installed Windows XP Home on my laptop and I am
wanting to uninstall. The usual route through my computer
and add/remove programs does not have the Windows XP
operating system on it to uninstall. The Help section
also says to go this way. Is there a reason I cannot
locate on add/remove and is there another method I can
use to remove the O/S from my unit?

That method in Add/Remove Programs is only there if several conditions
are met.
Some are:
1. Windows XP is installed as an upgrade
2. You chose to keep and did not later delete the necessary files.
3. File System is FAT32 and not NTFS
