I just purchased a new Windows XP Pro CD and it came with Service Pack 2
already on it. Service Pack 2 does not show up in the Add/Remove Programs
area. How do I get rid of SP2? It is causing problems with some Rockwell
Automation software I am running and Rockwell has not realeased a patch yet.

If you installed from that CD, then it won't show in Add or Remove - as it
is integrated into the install.

If SP2 came already integrated, I don't believe there is a way to remove just
sp2 unless you reformat and start over.

You can't since SP-2 is part of the installation.
Contact the manufacturer again, you are unlikely to be the only user
with that problem.

I know of the issue so we're holding off on SP2. They can probably just
exchange your install media so give them a call here.

You don't.. That is a complete version of XP at the SP2 level, not
installed as an add-on. You will just have to kick Rockwell to at least
provide a workaround. It is quite likely that their software just does
not like working with a Firewall around; in which case you could turn
that off in its Control Panel applet, and use whatever equivalent you
used previously on other systems
