uninstall sp3

after installing sp3 I want to uninstall it - IE crashes, computer freezes.
I ran the add/remove programs and then rebooted and it no longer shows in the
list of updates, however, if I right click on my computer it still says SP3 -
how do I get rid of this - restores will not work

WinXP SP3 - Read all prerequisites for a successful installation (and
uninstall, for that matter)
http://msmvps.com/blogs/harrywaldro...requisites-for-a-successful-installation.aspx

Free unlimited installation and compatibility support is available for
Windows XP, but only for Service Pack 3 (SP3), until 14 Apr-09. Chat and
e-mail support is available only in the United States and Canada. Go to
http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=1173 | select "Windows
XP" then select "Windows XP Service Pack 3"

A clean install will work and you'll be able to install SP3 then but do
it with a CD, not Windows Updates, and do it right after the XP install
and after installing the video, main board and audio drivers. Do the
clean install with just the keyboard, mouse, monitor and speakers
connected, NOTHING else. I would then get the Windows updates, install
the programs, leaving your AV/Firewall/Malware apps at the end of the
programs install and, finally, your devices such as a printer, scanner,
camera, etc.

I've been reading about this on other groups, and I'm not an expert, but I
don't think you can get rid of it (change back)
People are reporting problems and one had to find some "fix" with the
registry to do just to get the SP3 to go in. She said if I wanted to put it
in she would send me the instructions she got for doing this.
I looked it up (google) and found othes saying the same thing, that it's
hard to put in, doesn't go in alot of times (some said it does no problem)
and then it doesn't work good, they have problems with it. And, the overall
advice is to wait a bit till it gets the bugs out. And, that once you have
it you can't go back.
That's what I'm doing. I get auto downloads for it (don't know what it is
TILL it downloads and wants to instal. I just click the "don't agree" and it
cancels it)
I know this doesn't answer your question and I'm sure those who really
know about it will, just sharing what I've recently learned about it.

Odd - but now my computer says "xp sp2" who knows - sure would be nice if
the general public were not the guinea pigs!
