uninstall officejet software

when i attempt to uninstall hp all-in-one software in xp,
i don't get an option to "change/remove"

I get it on all other programs in the list just not on
the "hp officejet d series" which is 231 MB and I want to
make sure I do a clean uninstall.

The reason for doing the uninstall is that the printer is
not recognizing the PC (or the reverse) and I am not able
to scan.

HP says to do a remove/uninstall and then a reinstall
because of XP. My machine started out with W2000 Pro and
was upgraded to XP.

You might try reinstalling the software on top of itself and then try
uninstalling it. This occurance is sometimes seen after an O/S upgrade -
some of the necessary uninstall entries aren't carried over correctly during
the upgrade. Reinstalling should bring them back.
