Uninstall from outside "Program files"

Please provide any tips on how to uninstall a program that
does not show up using "Add/Remove Software".
I have a program I'll call QV that was installed by
default under just C:\.

I have tried to remove QV, but the "uninstall" function
does not see the QV program folder, which by default is
C:\qv. It's parallel to (not under) C:\Program Files and
perhaps is therefore not recognized as a program.

In this circumstance, would it hurt anything to simply
delete the folders that pertain to QV, then reinstall
under "Program Files"??

Kelly, thanks. I printed and tried waht's applicable, but
it didn't do the job. Found nothing re: QV. But...
While reviewing the "Services" staus in XP CP, I found
that the "Installer" had been turned off, and I switched
it back on. Tried reloading QV over the existing; it
still aborts, and Windows won't uninstall it. What can I
expect if I simply delete the QV program files and then
try to reinstall?
