"Uninstall" files for updates-safe to delete?

I try to be fairly rigorous about downloading and
installing critical--and many recommended--Windows XP
updates. As such, I have a fair number of "Uninstall"
files accumulated. Is it safe/OK to delete these?

It is, provided you are sure you will not want to uninstall the fixes
concerned. The thing to delete is the windows\$NTUninstallQnnnnnn$
related to Hotfix Qnnnnnn and described at
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;nnnnnn

Once deleted an attempt to uninstall in Add/remove programs will fail,
and you will be offered the chance to remove the entry there
