unhiding system /hidden folders or files

i cannot change the attributes to some system and hiddden
files and folders.
where and how can i do this other than the obvious right
click proerties and view files options etc.???
i cannot retrieve about 30 gigs of music that was in a
folder !!!my music!!! someone told me it protects them
with !!! in front and back of folders.
now they are there but in a system volume drive
chechdisk gave me a few 000.chk and they are fragments.
would defragging lose everything or formatting because the
volume is not fat 32 anymore it says fat when it s/b fat
32.
will pay anyone $ to help me out please email me personally

You can try changing the attributes using

attrib

from a command prompt. Type

attrib /?

to see the available switches.
