The full error message is
unhandled win32 exception occured in svchost.exe [1288].

the number changes every time so it is not important.
The error is being caught by my visual studio debuger.
I think the error is always there, just not being caught.
I have 5 svchost.exe files running in task manager.
2 are Network Service
2 are System
1 is Local Service
I used to think it was McAfee because the error would pop up as it
loaded, but I did a reinstall and it doesn't happen.
It happens half the time I turn on the computer.
It happens the first time I open IE 6
It happens sometimes when I open My Computer

Every svchost file looks legitamate.
C:\WINDOWS\$NtServicePackUninstall$
C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\16b2c96a0c41f4dfdb4d3cc228a4f819
C:\WINDOWS\system32
*****C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch\SVCHOST.EXE-2D5FBD18.pf******
I assume this is one of the 5 files running.
Has anybody heard of the error. And does anybody know of a fix.
I know it is not a trojan or a virus or a worm. If it is it is really
fast.

I think it has something to do with XP SP2, since I originaly had SP1
on XP Pro, and I never had the error. When I decided to clean up my
hard drive from all the useless old programs I formated it and
installed updates immidiately. I am not sure if I had SP2 originaly.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
