Ungrouping a table in Powerpoint 2007

Using Powerpoint 2007 I have been unsuccessful in ungrouping a table. The
"group" and "ungroup" tools are greyed out when you select the table. Is
there a way to ungroup tables in this new version as this is a very useful
tool for custom animation?

I don't think so. Tables in 2007 use a completely different engine than
in 2003.

I don't have a copy handy and can't test this but give it a try, report back:

Select the table
Copy it -- Press Ctrl+C 'cause I can't remember where anything is on the menus
in this thing ;-)

Use Paste Special and choose Enhanced Metafile or Windows Metafile to paste it
back in.

You will then, I think, be able to ungroup the pasted metafile.
It won't be a table any longer, so you won't be able to edit it as easily.
For that reason, you may want to do this on a copy of the original slide and
leave the real table on the original slide, and hide the slide.

Unfortunately this does not work. When you "paste special" the only selection
available to the user is to paste it in HTML Format, and the "paste link" is
greyed out.

So it is. Ah well, sometimes you have to pick it up by the collar and shake it
a bit.

Put PPT in slide sorter view.
Click the slide containing your table, rightclick and choose Copy.
Go back into normal view, move to the slide where you want the ungrouped table.

NOW it'll let you Paste Special as Enhanced Metafile.
You'll need to ungroup it a time or two and delete a few unwanted bits, but
that'll get you there.

Unlikely. Beta 2 had almost all the features RTM will have.
