Unfamiliar Error message

I installed a 2CD program I bought. I used it a few times and then it wasn't
needed for a long time. When I clicked on the program today, nothing came up.
After several tries with no results, I looked in my programs folder and the
program was gone.

I got out the two disks thinking that I had uninstalled the program and did
not remember. When I inserted the first disk, I got this error message:
An error (-5006 : 0x80030005) has occurred while running the setup.
Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other
applications.

I used EndItAll to close my programs and tried again. I received the same
error message. I looked in Add/Remove programs and it was listed. I clicked
on it to remove it but got the same error message. I did a search and removed
anything related and removed what files I could find in the registry.

It was still listed in Add/Remove programs so I clicked again, but still got
the above error message. Can anyone help, Please? Thank you.

thefrostycat,

Download, install & run the 'Windows Installer CleanUp' utility

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

After download:

* click file msicuu2.exe' (may take a minute to load)

* at the open window, click 'Next' > 'Next' to agree to license

* click 'Finish'

* click Start > Programs > Windows Install Clean Up

* scroll & highlight the program that needs 'cleaning'

* click 'Remove' then OK

* Repeat the steps to remove another program

* click 'Exit'

Notes:

1) You will need to reinstall any programs that are 'cleaned'

2) Windows Installer CleanUp utility deletes Windows Installer-related

registry settings & not the program files

3) Make sure that you install the program in the same folder where

it was originally installed to prevent duplication of files on

your hard disk

The program was not in the list, so it couldn't be cleaned. I forgot to add
that when I clicked on "Details" on the error message it said:

Error Code: -5006 : 0x80030005
Error Information:
Kernel\CABFile.cpp (471)
SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1254)
I don't know if that's any help. Thanks for trying.
