Unexpected Problem Message

George Farr

I have been managing a web site for over 5 years with MS Frontpage 2000.
After a recent adding of about 50 pages with a lot of photographs I got the
message "An unexpected error occured." when I attempted to publish. This was
preceded by "Ran out of memory", if I had other applications opened. Another
unexplainable occurance was the appearance of half a dozen messages such as
The file 'farrgen.htm' in the Web '<Root Web>' has been modified on 3/12/2006
4:29:46 PM by". Are you sure you want to replace it? All of these have very
old dates and make no sense whatsoever. Anybody have any idea what is going
on here. The host Gates.com has been unable to find a problem.

Go here: http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm and download FP Cleaner ( with Expression Web Designer and
SharePoint Designer support )
Download links are at the bottom of the page.
Run the functions that clear:
The Hidden Temporary files.
The Hidden Cache (*.web) files.

Then open your web site and click Tools > Recalculate Hyperlinks.
See if it helps.
