Unexpected computer restart

D

Darren

I've been getting this message recently, but I cannot
discern what would cause it to pop up:

"Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure
Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly."

This box gives me 1 minute to close out of all my
programs before the computer automatically restarts
itself. As you can imagine, it's a very annoying
problem. Any comments or solutions will be greatly
appreciated. Thanks!

I have also just started to get this message in the last
two days and have no clue why. I host a small game server
and have for quite a while and now suddenly this problem.
Since my isp address is dynamic, it is a hassle to keep
sending out notices of the change in address. What can I
do to solve this?.

Yes, I try to keep my system updated with windows updates
and new drivers. I dont have the sevice pack installed
however. I have an emachine and when I downloaded it and
installed it my system rebelled. Started freezing programs
and shuting down by itself among other things so i
uninstalled it. Have had the system for 2 yrs now with no
problems and this message just appeared from nowhere
monday night. Then did it again yesterday afternoon twice.
Nothing has changed on my system so no clue why.

Have you fully patched your system on
www.windowsupdate.com ?
