Unexpected Background Programme or Process

Can anyone please help?

I'm running Windows WP SP2 and every 15 minutes some sort of programme or
process tries to launch, it opens a box on the task bar that then disappears.
I've updated my anti-virus and anti-spyware software and checked it out,
I've check for scheduled tasks, to no avail.

I don't know how to find out what it is and turn it off from here and it's
fairly annoying as if I am in the middle of something that minimises as this
thing launches so anything in real time is totally messed up.

Well since it is happening on a regular schedule you could open task manager
choose the processes tab click the CPU column so that it show the process
usage is at the top and see which process is using the CPU at the 15 min
interval.

Try one of the free Systernals tools such as Process Explorer.

Look in Task Manager and make note of all programs and processes that
are running.

Other than that, do some troubleshooting with the System Configuration
