Unerasable zero kb files

Try deleting them using a bootable BartPE CD:

Only way I can think of would be to overwrite the MFT entry number for the
files with nulls (not simple)

chkdsk error messages would give you the problematic MFT entry number, and a
combination of programs like WinHex (to identify the sector and cluster
corresponding to the entry) and DskProbe could be used to overwrite the
entry

You'd have to do alot of reading up and Googling before attempting that
though. But if the only alternative is a reformat, and you've backed up your
important files then might be worth having a go.

Before that, try the chkdsk in Recovery Console, alternated with the Windows
chkdsk, since they seem to run slightly differently.
