Undo FIXMBR ?

Setup - Primary HDD (C:) with a corrupt windows o/s on it
Secondary HDD (D:) with a valid XP installation on it.
External crossfire backup drive

I think the master boot record was on the primary HDD and I used to get
a "Select Operating system" message when booting up. I wanted to
removed the primary HDD and reformat it so I removed it and switched
jumper on the second hard disc to make it the primiary.

Booted up the machine from the XP CD-rom and ran fixmbr. Unfortunately
in a moment of complete madness I ran it against the external crossfire
drive which now when connected to an PC is showing up blank !!

What's the best way of "undoing" the fixmbr or updating the crossfire
drive so I can get access to the data.

TIA.

How do you know that you ran fixmbr on external b/u drive?
Did you format external drive?

Does this computer still boot up to original "D" drive?

I ran a map command and then a fixmbr \Device\Harddisk0\Partition1
without checking the disc sizes and forgetting that the firewire
external drive was still attached. It's my parents PC rather than my
own so I forgot about it.

I had to get back home so I took their PC with me and I'm just about to
start working on that one now. They attached the firewire drive to
their other PC and called me when it wasn't working.

It looks to me that yuo did fixmbr to old "D" drive!!!

If you had removed "C" drive and installed "D" as primary master!!!

Firewire is a new/separate issue!!!
