I had an OLD version of a file on my desktop and deleted it.

I opened the "network places" thing and downloaded a NEW version of the file.

I accidentally deleted the file in the network places folder and hit "undo
delete" from the network window. It restored the local, OLD file from the
recycle bin over the top of the new file on the desktop. End result: NEW
version of the file was deleted from the server AND the desktop, all I had
was the old version written over the new version on the desktop.

Please, please help. I REALLY need that new file. Been on hold with
Microsoft help for over 45 minutes.

And just what do you think MS can do about it? It's gone. You will now need
to invest in file recovery software.

.
What file did you delete? How did you download anything
from "Network Places"? What OS are you running? I am not
aware of any way to download anything from the Internet
in Network Places. Is this file, somehow, located in
Network Places?

Carry on attending remedial English - that's exactly why I said it.

No, dearie, you couldn't. Anyway, what would you know about DOS - you
weren't born then! And you were only four when Windows 95 was released!

Nice red herring and appeal to authority fallacies.

You with your "English degree" *do* know what those are, don't you?

Typical of you, to completely avoid directly responding to the questions.

Oh, and yes "dearie" you can undelete files in DOS:
