Undesired system shutdown

Glen

Hello all! I'm experiencing a problem where XP Home has
all of a sudden started "throwing" me the following error
message and then of course shutting down. It immediately
reboots and then in approximately 10 to 20 minutes does
it again. There have been no radical changes to anything,
no new software installs or anything such as that. It ahs
just started out of the blue.

Any help here would be appreciated.

Here's the error message:

SYSTEM SHUTDOWN

This system is hutting down. Please save all work in
progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost.
This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM

Windows must now restart because the Remote Procedure
Call (RPC) service terminated unexpectedly.

Thanx in advance for help given.

Apparently, your computer has an unwelcome visitor (VIRUS) known
as the WM32 Blaster/Lovsan WORM.

It entered the computer through your internet connection because the "firewall"
was not properly enabled and essential critical updates were not installed from
the Windows Update website. For instructions on fixing the problem, visit:

What You Should Know About the Blaster Worm

Remove W32.MSBlast.Worm

Blaster Worm: Critical Security Patch for Windows XP (32-bit version)

If your computer is constantly attempting to shutdown
or reboot, quickly go to:

Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
This opens the Command Prompt window.

Then type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.

This should halt the rebooting problem.

Then immediately turn-on Windows XP's built-in Firewall:

Nicholas,

Thanks very much, I've come to the same conclusion from
further research on my own since I posted the 1st message.
Again, thanks for your time.
