undesired automatic startup

Over the past 10 days or so, my system has been starting up every night at 1
AM, following a shutdown via hibernate earlier. (Prior to this, I've been
shutting down via hibernate for many months without any automatic startup.)
In the morning I find it sitting at the logon screen. I can't locate any
scheduled activity that would cause this. But anyway, what software has
permission to start up the system?

System: XP Pro SP 3

Any ideas out there?

It's very likely a "Wake on ..." setting in your BIOS. Go into the
BIOS setup program and check to see if any of the "Wake on ..."
settings are turned on.

Thanks for the suggestions re BIOS wake up settings. It is a Phoenix
AwardBIOS dated 11/6/03. Under Power Management Wake Up Events, most of the
settings are disabled. The exceptions:
IRQ [3-7, 9-15], NMI - enabled
USB KB Wake Up from S3 - enabled
PS2KB Wake Up from S3 - hot key

The keyboard connector is a PS/2. Do any of these settings sound possibly
relevant to the problem? (Secondary question - is it worth the effort to
update the BIOS?)
