It's not a matter of converting from PPT97. The unwanted delay is there
even when you create a new animation in PPT 2003. For example, draw a
circle, then animate it to appear on mouse click. When you run the
presentation, the object does not appear until about half a second AFTER you
click the mouse. This presents a problem when you want something to
alternate between two positions by going back and forth with the L and R
arrow keys. This delay was NOT present in PPT97, where objects appeared
instantly. My question is how to eliminate this annoying delay.
Well, my question was what kind of object are you animating. I was thinking
that perhaps you were animating a photo. If your photo is overscanned, then
that could cause a delay with the animation.
Since you mentioned drawing a circle, though, I'll suggest instead that this
may be a video driver/display issue. So try changing your hardware
acceleration. Instructions are at

Also, do you have anything running in the background? (antivirus software,
distributed computing applications, Outlook, etc.?) If so, disable them or
close them down and see if that helps.
