underline

I have produced a document. For some reason not known to
myself, just as I completed it every line was underlined.
I don't have a clue how this happened. I have attempted
to delete the underline with no avail. I don't want to
start it all over again. Can you assist please??

Uncheck automatically update in the format > style dialog.
Change the format of the paragraph styles used to have no underline. Then
CTRL+A and CTRL+Space to reset the text to the underlying styles. Remember
that provided you keep the document open, UNDO will correct unintended
actions.

I'm not sure what you mean when you say that you were unable to "delete"
the underline, but the cause of the problem is probably because the
"style" for all the characters is formated "underline on", or for
whatever reason all the characters are hard-formated with "underline on".

The easiest way to remove all underlining is to select everything
(Edit/Select All, or ctrl-A), then press the underline tool bar the
toggle off the underlines. Or after selecting all text, go to
format/character and turn off underlining.

This will avoid re-work. Doesn't get a the root cause, but we'll elave
to that you.

You may have had Track Changes enabled. Turn it off (Tools | Track Changes
or double-click TRK on the status bar) and then Accept All Changes.
