Under WinXP Pro SP2, Outlook 2003 Will Not SEND a Message That's in My Inbox

AA Smith

I have a message that's stuck in the Outbox. It will not Send even though
Outlook 2003 has been through several Send/Receive cycles. Whatever is
keeping it from being sent is not intuitively obvious. It's listed there in
all italics. What could be causing this hang-up. More importantly, how can
I get Outlook 2003 to send that message?

Unless you know what the problem is and correct it, you'll probably need to
delete it.

Is the message too large? Can you connect to the SMTP server? Are there any
error messages in the send/receive progress dialog?

Hi, Kathleen!

I appreciate your feedback. However, the steps suggested sat the link below
relate to deleting as stuck message from the Outbox. I don't know whether
or not the message can be deleted. I haven't tried that. I simply want to
Send the message, but it won't send.

Hi, Diane!

The stuck e-mail is a simple 8-line message in a normal Arial font; no
attackments, and nothing imbedded. Outlook connects to the server just fine
every time it goes through a Send/Receive cycle. No error messages appear.

Do you have more than one email account in your profile and is it using the
right account? Is the address correct - can you send other messages to that
same person?

Thanks, again, Diane!

I still don't know what held that e-mail up. It was a reply to an
associate's e-mail. I simply copied all of the text and pasted it into a
new e-mail to his address and it went winging his way immediately. Go
figure. :)

Again, thanks! I appreciate your help.

i have seen a lot of these error messages both on my machine and one of
my customers aswell as reading heaps of people in this group having the
same prob, here is what i have found: i started getting this error 2
years ago when my ISP upgraded their mail server with a new encryption
program. ever since this, i have had problems, my email will work for a
week, then it will stop working for no reason at all. it will stay like
this till i send my ISP a nasty email, then all of a sudden it will
start working again, one week later it stops.this has been happening
for over 2 years and nobody knows what the peoblem is. i have an
Iprimus account as well as my other ISP(i don't want to mention their
name), my iprimus account works fine everytime, but the other ISP(that
upgraded their mail server) still won't work. they keep telling me it
is at my end, but i know different because iprimus works. now when my
mail doesn't work, i call my ISP and the next day it works for 1 or 2
weeks. Moral of the story is, don't waste your time messing around with
your settings to fix the problem, it is your ISP.
