C:\Program Files\xerox
C:\Program Files\MSN Gaming Zone
C:\Program Files\NetMeeting

These folders are empty. And I use non of these applications. Yet I
can't delete them. Why?

Because they are put there by the system. Since the folders are empty,
just ignore them.

Please quote at least some of the original post for clarity. The OP
asked about these folders:

C:\Program Files\xerox
C:\Program Files\MSN Gaming Zone
C:\Program Files\NetMeeting

These are installed by the system and he will not find them under
Add/Remove Programs.

The folders may not be empty. Is it set to view hidden files?

Doesn't matter if they're empty or not... they're system files and
can't be deleted.

I was very frustrated by this same thing a few months ago. I searched
a lot of forums, and tried various "solutions", but was still left with three
folders. I successfully got rid of everything IN the folders, but could not
deleted the folders themselves: microsoft frontpage, Net Meeting, and
xerox.

I finally gave up, since, as it was pointed out to me: who cares? -- they
aren't taking up any space. This is true, but it bugged me anyway.
Maybe I'm a neatness freak, but I didn't like my Program Files folder
showing three extra useless folders.

Anyway, I just found a neat free program that does the job, called
"Unlocker": http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker

It also works fine when you're trying to delete a file, and get that
annoying message that it's "being used by another program".
