Uncompressing TIFF files

I saved a TIFF file in Paint when trying to flip the image, and it saved it
in a compressed format. The program I am using to analyse the image for work
now cannot open the file beacuse it is compressd. How do I uncompress the
TIFF file??

Note - when using IrfanView for uncompressing *.tifs, make sure you go to "View" => "Original size" before saving to maintain original image size of uncompressed image. Keep in mind this will increase the file size once uncompressed. IrfanView is the free software mentioned on the above link.

As a followup to the IrfanView comment - it appears IrfanView does not support higher Bit Depths, so it seems that it saves at 24 if your image has a Bit Depth of higher then 24. Posting this as FYI in case that is an issue.
