After doing a restore with Acronis 8.0, I now have a partition of
3.82 gig with 5.86 gig unalocated. Can I get this whole drive in
one partition with out losing what is in the 3.87 partition?
Any help greatly appreciated...
This pc has Windows XP upgrade with SP-2 installed with all updates.

You did a "system restore" and now youre hd with xp on it has a new
partition....You didnt do a "restore",not with those results....Delete the
new
partition, but with software that does that youre sure to have other problems
down the road.Whats wrong with xp system restore..

The hard drive was trashed. It was loaded with unwanted files from
the internet from kids using it. I tried to do a XP repair first but
there wasn't enough room on the hard drive to copy all the files. I
even set it as a secondary master with another hard drive so I could
access some of the files to deleted and or save them. It eventually
wouldn't be recognized by the CMOS and I had to replace it. So, I used
the Acronis system restore to set it back to the way it was after a
fresh install of all the software. The Acronis is supposed to allow a
larger partition to be used than it was made from but it didn't do it.
