How do I reallocate disk space after deleting a partition?

Somehow my hard drive was split into two partitions, a C: drive and a D:
drive. I have deleted the D: drive and am now left with almost 200 gig of
unallocated disk space. Any idea on how to move that back onto the C: drive?

Only with a third party tool, e.g. Partition Magic
or by blowing all away and starting a clean install, though may not be
possible if you only have a recovery disk
PS Its quite usual for a single hd sys to be partitioned as such. Causes no
harm.
