adding unallocated or "free space" to existing C drive

I had partitioned my original disk to C, D, and E equally. Now I wish
to have all the space for C. When I use the Admin tools, etc, in
Control panel, I was able to delete the partitions, but the space now
appears as unallocated (or free) space and does not increase the C
drive GB. So I have ended up with the same C drive space, and
unallocated space where I had D and E. How do I add that empty space
back to the C drive????

XP does not have the tools to non-destuctivly repartion a drive, you
need to use a third party application such as Partition Magic or the
like, either that or completely wipe the hard drive and start afresh.

Before using a repartitiong application backup ALL your important data
to an external storage device such as a CD, USB key or external drive
as things can go wrong.

yeh, i have had to use acronis because partition magic was incompatiable to
with my pentium and it wiped out everything. but i have learned that if you
go to run>cmd and type diskpart you may have some additional power. after
you log into diskpart, then type in diskpart/? (I probably could have used
diskpart instead of partition magic if i knew about it. but acronis did an
outstanding job and restored my deleted partition and all my valuable
valuable files)

I have a slightly different problem from this, I have a hard drive from my
old (4yo) computer that was installed in XP as a 2nd storage. I partitioned
it into 2 drives. I am now trying to use it as an external drive. I deleted
what was on the drive & then formatted both (according to instructions w/
enclosure), & delted the smaller partition. Now stuck with 18Gb of
unallocated space and 93Gb drive. Since no data on either, any way to get it
all as 1 drive (volume)?

this thread is 2 months old. I suggest you post a new one for todays
date.....

My initial guess is that you will have to go into command prompt and see
what options you have under diskpart and fdisk. Maybe you will have to
delete the second partition with fdisk and resize the 1 one with fdisk or
diskpart.....
