Unable to view certain websites....

There are a few websites that I cannot seem to access
from home (on my laptop) but can access just fine from
any other connection. The sites aren't anything out of
the ordinary - for example one is a page on eBay that has
system status messages. When I try and visit one of these
sites I end up the "this page cannot be displayed"
message. I have talked to other people that use these
sites and I am the only one experiencing this problem.

I have reset my security settings and DSL modem. It was
suggested the problem could be some type of spyware but
I've since downloaded Lavasoft's Ad-aware program and
spyware does not seem to be the problem. Any ideas?

Thank you!

I saw that this could be the problem after looking at
older posts and so I opened the file in notepad. It
didn't have any sites listed so I don't think that is it
(wouldn't it have the website or ip address listed?).

It may be a HOSTS file problem.
Look also for a file named HOSTS (no extension, could be hidden) rename it
OLDHOSTS.
