cannot access certain websites

A

A Loorya

For a few weeks now I have not been able to access a
handful of websites that require a sign in. Once I sign
in all access to these sites stops and I get a Page
Cannot Be Displayed message.

I've read through this board about a half dozen times.
I've tried every suggestion posted so far from deleting
the TIF, resizing the cache, deleting cookies, to
checking for spyware, trojans, virues, etc. No luck.

I have all the latest updates. I'm running XP home, I
have a broadband connection and am connected to an in-
home network through a router. Among the sites I can't
access are ebay, webshots, half.com, cingular.com and a
few other less familiar sites for work.

Not only do these sites not work with IE but the same
thing happens in Netscape and Mozilla.

I've seen other posts with similar problems. Anyone
have/found any solutions. It's been awfully frustrating.

Symtom: Page cannot be displayed / Cannot find server or DNS Error

In the event you can not access a site and you believe it
may be due to an entry in the HOSTS file.

You can use a simple batch file to rename the HOSTS file "on-the-fly".

Thanks for the suggestions but unfortunately I've tried
all of those with no luck. The sites aren't (https)
secure sites.

Also, this happens when my laptop is connected as well.
It is running Win XP Professional all the updates etc..
Same problems. I believe this started right after the
Blaster worm updates became available and were downloaded.

Alyssa,
You may need to clear your TIF as you may have a corrupt file there.

Close all instances of OE and IE
Control Panel | Internet Options | General tab
Click the "Delete Files" button, when prompted place a check in:
"Delete all offline content", click OK
Click the "Clear History" button, click OK.
Click the Settings button, adjust the TIF size to 50 mb, click OK

Possibly your cache folder is corrupt:
