Unable to use Windows Live OneCare Scanner

When I try to install it, I get a message: The instruction at "0x09dd0068"
referenced memory at "0x09dd0068". The memory could not be written.

Any ideas on what this means and how to fix it.
Thanks.

What is the recent history of the machine? Is it virus/malware-free?
Inability to install an antivirus usually means the machine is already
infected. Be sure it's clean:

Live OneCare is no longer supported. Use a better antivirus instead (install
after you are sure the machine is not infected). I recommend NOD32
(commercial), Avast (free version available), or Avira (free version
available).

perhaps, you might try the
online version:

if you have other a.v.'s or firewalls
installed,

you might want to disable them
before running one care.

What anti-virus application or security suite is installed and is your
subscription current? What anti-spyware applications (other than Defender)?
What third-party firewall (if any)?

Has a(another) Norton or McAfee application ever been installed on this
machine (e.g., a free-trial version that came preinstalled when you bought
it)?
