I replaced the hard drive as it stopped working.

I loaded xp from the cd, version 2002. Everything seems to working ok,
except that I cannot run update to get all the changes since 2002. IE
version 6.0.62600 issues the message that it is examining my system, then it
asks whether I want to send the error to Microsoft, then it goes away.

I tried this several times, with the same result (of course).\

I sure hope someone can help with this problem.

seems that you might had IE 7 on your computer before reinstalling windows.
you can try to run the command at start>run
%windir%\ie7\spuninst\spuninst.exe
It will try to remove all the files which are related to IE7. lets see if it
works for you.

NEXT TIME make sure you uninstall IE7 from your computer before repairing
windows xp.
