Unable to uninstall sound driver

Hello,

It is possible to uninstall drivers 4 hardware Windows XP but the case I
have is one in which going to device manager and trying to uninstall the
sound driver is not possible. The unnstall option/command is not shown.
Also, the sound and audio shortcut in control panel shows up but all of the
useful settings are disabled. There are audio and video codecs installed but
you can't hear or play sounds. This is a driver problem. Can anyone help out?

It sounds like the drivers aren't installed properly in the first place. I
would go to the website of the manufacturer of the computer itself or the
manufacturer of the speakers (if you're using external speakers).

If this is a generic machine you might even need to crack open the case and
look at the manufacturer of the chip and go to that manufacturer's website to
download the driver for it. Most of the time this isn't the case, but I have
had to do this a time or two. Hope this helps.
