Unable to Trust an NT 4.0 domain from W2K

John

I have 2 domains: one NT4, and one W2k (Mixed mode).
I'm trying to establish a one-way Trust so that Domain NT4
is Trusted by Domain W2K. I continue to recieve messages
that the Trust fails.

This is what I've done so far:
Both servers on the same physical subnet, and I've pointed
the NT4 server to the W2K server for DNS resolution. An
entry for the NT4 server has been added to DNS.
I'm able to setup a Trust so that the NT4 Trusts W2K. The
W2K Domain Admins gave been added to the NT4 Local
Administrators group. The NT4 Domain Admins have been
added to the W2K Local Administrators goup, but appear as
unavailble.

Any suggestions on what to check?

Try with WINS server, as NT4 relies on WINS server for nameresolution.

Hi John....here are some things you should check...

1. Be sure that you are creating the trust from the W2K DC that is the PDC
Emulator.

2. Be sure that you have correctly modified your LMHOST file.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the quick responses...
Additional info.:
Each domain only has one server. I've just setup the W2K
server as a WINS server, and setup the NT4 server as a
WINS client. I can ping each respectively by both name and
IP.
I'm stumped! Any other suggestions?

Regards,
John
