Unable to start outlook for some users

On a Windows 2000 PC,with Outlook 2000 installed,
connecting to a network remotely via dial-up and VPN, when
I log in each user and start Outlook, I usually get the
window in which you configure Outlook. I check "Microsoft
Exchange Server", then Next, then insert the name of the
exchange server, and click "check name". It verifies the
name, but when I click next, it says "The profile cannot
be created." I occasionally get an error saying "An
internal MAPI error has caused this logon attempt to fail.
MAPI 1.0 [000004CA]." This only happens for 3 of the 7
users I have logged on to this machine. I am unsure how to
proceed.
Please help!!!
