I have WindowsXP Professional on my computer and I just replaced my
daughter's laptop with a new one running XP Home. The laptop came with a
wireless network but we use CAT 5 on our home network. The laptop also has a
CAT5 connector that I plugged into, and she immediately had internet access
without any type of configuration on my part. The problem is that I can't
seem to configure the rest of the network. When I click on the properties of
the LAN, I don't see any protocols like "file and print sharing", "client
for microsoft networks", or "TCC/IP". I also don't see any place to click to
add a protocol like I've done on my other computers. Any suggestions as to
how to get the rest of this network set up?

Look for a "Bridge" in your Network Places. This is where you would
set TCP stuff if the bridge does exist. Since you have efectively 2 NICS,
the Bridge may be installed. Just a thought ...
