Unable to set Display Properties

I have been unable to set display properties in Windows XP
home edition. It was working but now when I right click
on the desktop and click properties, all I get is the tab
to change my screen saver. I am missing the other tabs
such as appearance, effects, settings, & background.

This is also true when I try to click the control panel
item Display Icon.

Guess what? I was mistaken. I only have "theme
settings" under the Display Properties window. I don't
believe that this is a standard windows in Windows XP.

I rather not use System Restore yet. I'll use it as a
last resort but right now I am still trying to figure it
out. The problems are probably due to a software that I
recently installed.

Hi,

~~~
This is often caused by a third party "Desktop" program. One being Desktop
Architect.
