I am using outlook in Vista and I have to email accounts coming into outlook:
Verizon and my University email. There are 2 error codes that I am getting
when I try to send an email. I am getting this error code for my
'incoming.verizon.net -Sending': 0x800CC800. I am getting this second error
code for my 'pop.uvic.ca - Sending': 0x80042109. I have been using Outlook
since August and both of these accounts have been working fine since then. I
am also able to receive emails fine, just not send them.

Do not describe, paraphrase, or condense the error message. Show it
in full (except munge out your username). It is likely that you are
omitting the error response sent by the mail server and echoed in the
error message shown in Outlook.

Word for Word this is what I got:

Task 'pop.uvic.ca -Sending' reported error (0x800CC80) : 'None of the
authentication methods supported by this client are support by your server.'

and

Task 'incoming.verizon.net - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook
cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server.

I am not entirely sure what to do or why these accounts suddenly stopped
working and these errors showed up.

Word for Word this is what I got:

There was no info if SSL was enabled or not? Or what port was used?
Or the name of the mail host to which you connected (the "Task" field
is probably showing what you named the account, not the host name)?
Task 'pop.uvic.ca -Sending' reported error (0x800CC80) : 'None of
the
authentication methods supported by this client are support by your
server.'

Do you have SSL enabled? If so, does that mail host support SSL? Do
you have the correct port specified? Do you have Secure Password
Authentication (SPA) enabled? It is unlikely they support it.

Why is Outlook *sending* if you specified a POP3 mail host? POP3 is
for *receiving*. Looks like you have the wrong host names specified
for the receive and send mail hosts.
Task 'incoming.verizon.net - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) :
'Outlook
cannot connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server.

When I "telnet incoming.verizon.net 110", their POP3 server responds,
I get connected, and it waits for me to authenticate. What port do
you have configured in your e-mail account when connecting to their
POP3 server?

When you run "tracert incoming.verizon.net", does the traceroute make
it to that host?
I am not entirely sure what to do or why these accounts suddenly
stopped
working and these errors showed up.

What software have you installed since it was working? Any
anti-malware (anti-virus, anti-spam, anti-spyware, anti-<something>)?
Have you yet tried disabling the e-mail scanning function in your
anti-virus, and disabled the other anti-malware programs?

It looks like you have to carefully review all the settings in each
e-mail account to make sure you have the correct mail host names and
ports specified for each one regarding both the POP3 (receiving) and
SMTP (sending) configuration settings.
