Outlook 2002 - message sending error

I am unable to send messages for the last 24 hours (I had no problem before).
The error code is 0x800CCC78. The message is Task 'incoming.verizon.net -
sending and receiving' reported error (0x800CCC78): 'unable to send the
message. Please verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The
server responded: ?$r'

Verizon tech support walked thru all options and referred to Microsoft,
sayiny it is an Outlook problem; help in resolving the problem is appreciated.

Unless you changed something in outlook, it wasn't outlook. Are you using
an antivirus scanner on outgoing email?
