Unable to send and receive emails

Up until a week ago Windows Mail (I have had Vista Home Prem for a year) was
working just fine. Now I am unable to receive or send emails and get the
following message:
Account: 'pop.clara.net', Server: 'pop.clara.net', Protocol: POP3, Server
Response: '-ERR Configuration error', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server
Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90
All account and server info is correct. I have used Bullguard Internet
Security for about a month. I had a tech remove all traces of Norton Internet
Secutiry so that should not be causing a prob.
Hope someone can help without telling me to change ports as I would have no
idea of where to look for them!! Thanks

It may be simplest to remove your email account under Windows Mail, then
restart Windows Mail and use these instructions for creating it again:

http://www.claranet.co.uk/support/setting-up-outlook-express.html

They were written for Outlook Express, but should also work under
Windows Mail if they don't call for the HTTP protocol.

Also, you might want to download and run this program in case the
tech didn't know the correct way to remove a Norton antivirus program:
