Unable to see win2000 Server or shared when connected VIA VPN

Davan

I am able to connect to windows 2000 Server that has 2 NICS installed one Server adapter going through a switch for the
local network with about 10 users and behind a Linksys 8 port Router (BEFSR81) which is plugged in to a Netopia Cayman router.
The 2nd nic is plugged directly in to the cayman router to obtain a static IP address
I am able to use remote desktop connection as well as able to complete a VPN (PPTP) connection.
when I connect via VPN I am unable to ping the server, see any network resources or see any of the network computers or server shares.

I am at a loss as to what I am doing wrong. any help would greatly appreciated.

Looks like you are using the default gateway on the remote network to route
your packets.

Check this option at

Right click on the connectoid->
properties->Networking->TCP/IP ->Properties->Advance
Check the option "Use the default gateway on the remote network".

Are you trying to ping the server by name or does the server not respond to ping by IP address also?
