When I right click on an attachment & choose "save as" a box open which shows
me the location where my file swill be saved. It does not however save a word
documet as.doc or a powerpoint document as .ppt. The only option is to save
file type as "all files".
The file will save OK, but will not open with the coeerct program.
The only way I can save attachments is to open them first then save them.
Why can i not save them by right clicking. Thanks,
John

all files the default and outlook just saves it using the same name and
extension as on the message. Do you have Vista set to hide the extensions
for known file types? If so, show extensions and you'll see outlook is
saving them as filename.doc.

From windows explorer, Organize button, folder and search options. Look on
the View tab for the option to hide known file types.
