Unable to run macro though action settings

I have some macros written to create explanatory text boxes when an area of
the screen is clicked.
I have created "boxes" around the areas to activate in the same way as for
hyperlinks.
I have set the action settings to run the macro on mouse click, and checked
the "highlight click" box.
I have tested the macros with Tools - macros - run macro and also in VB
editor step-through.
When I run the slideshow and click the area, the highlight works but the
macro does not start. The slideshow does not move on to the next item
either, so something must be registering.
(security settings are currently "low", and I have digitally signed the
macros too)
Running Powerpoint 2002 (10.2623.2625)
Any ideas?
Thanks
Paul

Are the macros designed to work in Slide Show view or only in Normal/Edit
view? Because the two views work very differently, a macro could easily
work in one and not the other. Either copy your code here so we can look
at it, or look for telltale signs of things that won't work in Slide Show
view, such as "ActiveWindow" or "Selection" or "Select."

Can't do the diagnosis w/o the patient handy ...

Post some example code and we'll run it through the EKG. <g>
