unable to restart win xp pro

hello,

i am not able to restart windows xp. the computer is
just hanging on with message of shunting down, but never
have been able to shunt down on itself. i have to
physically shunt down my computer in order to restart.

any suggestions.

You probably have an application that is failing to close. Be sure all of
your applications are closed before you shutdown. Also, you should run
Checkdisk.
