Unable to reset IP address

I have a 2 computer network. Both computers are running XP
home. They are connected to a 4 port router designed for
sharing a cable modem connection. One computer gets to the
internet and can print to the hub's printer port. The
other cannot get an IP address to connect and cannot ping
the gateway. It also cannot connect to the device to
configure it. I used the command ipconfig and it returned
an IP address of 0.0.0.0 Typing ipconfig /renew did
nothing to fix it. Neither did netsh int ip reset. What's
the next step?

This sound more like a Layer 1 problem. I'd check the
device manager and make sure the network adapter is
operating properly. Does it have the correct driver? Does
the machime recognize the adapter?
