unable to reply to emails, but able to send and receive in Outllook

I can receive and send emails normally in Outlook XP, but
I am unable to send a reply.

I Have installed all of the updates. The password request
comes up which normally does not when normally sending
and receiving, sometimes.

Sometimes, I get an error message to check the email
address, sometimes a time out error

This only happens when replying to emails sent to me

Please post the exact error messages - the text is a great place to start
for troubleshooting.

Also, do the addresses have anything in common, same domain, etc.?

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
