Since I installed 07 and set it to work with my bt (yahoo) account it does
not allow anyone to reply to an email that has originated in outlook. The
message they receive is

Technical details of permanent failure:
PERM_FAILURE: SMTP Error (state 13): 550 <[email protected]>:
Recipient address rejected: User unknown in virtual alias table

Any ideas on how to resolve this?

and you are sure the address in the from and reply to field is correct? does
that same address work if you send mail from another client? (use copy and
paste to make sure they are identical)

Hi Diane and thanks for the reply

yes have tried this several times and from different places - was first told
of the problem by someone else trying to reply to me. Its not an issue when
Outlook is not involved - and spoken to the helpline at BT yahoo mail who say
there is nothing wrong with my account as they can also send me emails

the only reason for it to not work (and return that message) is if the
email address on the message which is replied to is not correct. Can you get
a copy of a header from a message you sent using Outlook and see if there is
anything goofy with it?

Nothing wrong with the header or address - the only way to reply to me is to
write the address out again. As most people just hit reply its very annoying
- I am at a loss to try to fix?

this error indicates your mail server is rejecting the messages to that
address. Since it only fails when you send using Outlook and 100's of
thousands of people use outlook without issue, it tends to indicate a
problem with your account configuration in Outlook. Try making a new profile
from scratch and retyping everything in. If you are using both the From and
reply to fields in the current profile, leave that field blank, use only the
From field.

If it still fails, please post the header from one of the messages that
can't be replied to.

Thank you very much - recreating the profile worked and I can now receive
emails

I am a very happy person!
