My boss has a Toshiba laptop with XP Pro installed. I tried to install
Office 2003 on it for him but something went wrong during the attempt to
install SP1. I got a message I installing SP1 - Can't find SKU001.cab. Said
file was nowhere to be found on the install disks. So every time he started
his computer, a dialog box would come up saying Installer is Configuring
Office 2003 or something similar. Click Cancel, repeat this four or fuive
more times, and all would be well until *something* would trigger it again,
or until the next restart. So I finally took another copy of Office 2003 and
installed it. By now, SP2 was out so after installing I went to install SP2
and I get the same odd message I got installing SP1 the first time - Can't
find SKU001.cab. Said file was nowhere to be found on the install disks. A
search for SKU001* turned up an SKU001.xml file. Then I looked on his C:
drive and found 3 folders with those impossibly long names like
fut05t7788sdkjnf98774hd89900gfh3gd8f on the root of C:. I tried to delete
them but they tell me Access denied to folder SP1. Each one has a folder
named SP1 whihc appears to be empty. I rebooted in safe mode, logged in as
Administrator and I get the same message.
