If you can open Excel and open files from within Excel, You may want
to try one of these:
Close Excel and
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /unregserver
then
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /regserver
The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to
excel's
factory defaults.
An alternative might be to do:
Try Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it)
Failing that, what error messages are you getting?

Have you been saving files in Excel to a floppy disc rather than copy
to floppy, copy from floppy to hard and then opening from the hard
drive?

You may want to try reregistering excel (and word and powerpoint):
Close Excel and
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /unregserver
then
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /regserver
The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
factory defaults.
I know that MSWord has the same /regserver option--not sure about PPT.
