unable to read encrypted email

Hi,

I have a problem with one of our user's email. Recently the user's computer
crashed and everything is reinstalled (such as Windows 2000, MS office 2000
etc) because of a harddisk replacement. However there are some encrypted
email messages that he cannot open again, whether it is sent by him or
someone sent it to him. The error message is as follows:

Cannot open this item. Your Digital ID name cannot be found by the
underlying security system.

Would anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thanks

The certificates used to decrypt the messages must be reinstalled.

But where can I get the certificate? Can it be retrieve from the Certificate
Authority?

If the initial certificate was obtained from the CA, then a new copy of it
should be available there as well.
