Unable to print to XP shared printer from Vista with Standard acco

Hi,

I've been reading all the topics on printing from a Vista (Premium) to a
printer (HP895) which is connected/shared on an Win XP (Pro), but am unable
to print using a Standard account on the Vista machine.

I went through all the suggestions made in the posts on the forum
XP machine:
- enabled the Guest account on the XP machine
(don't know why this has to be done, normally this account is disabled)
- checked the permissions on the XP share$ folder (Everyone read)
- checked print permissions on the security tab
(allowed print for 'Everyone' and 'Network' on XP machine)

Vista machine:
- the account on the vista machine has a non-blank password to log in
- allowed to discover the network on the Vista machine
- allowed file sharing on the Vista machine
- created a Local Port on Vista, (Local Port like \\XPDaniel\HP895) and
connect to it
- also tried to connect to the HP895 via network
(to find the shared printer on \\XPDaniel)

And yes, with an admin account, I can print from the Vista machine to the
HP895. But once I log in with a Standard account and try to print, I just run
into trouble. Although the standard user can 'see' the printer on the XP
machine, it still is not able to print. When trying to connect to the HP895
over the network, I'm asked for credentials (login + password. I even flag
the checkbox to remember the password). When I give the credentials from the
local vista admin, I can print with the Standard account - until I log
off/reboot the Vista machine!

Funny enough, I can print from my XP laptop on this shared HP895. No hassle
there...

It seems I'm overlooking something... Please, advice on what can be done.

Daniel
