unable to print to HP932C after upgrading to Windows XP

After upgrading from Windows ME to Windows XP Home I can
only print if I uninstall LPT1, search for recent
hardware changes and then reinstall the port. If I turn
the printer off I have to repeat this procedure. I have
uninstalled the printer, drivers, 'dj930' directory,
uninstalled and reinstalled the port, installed the
latest drivers from HP but am unable to solve this
problem. Does anyone know how to fix this problem so that
I don't have to uninstall and reinstall the port each
time I want to print? Thank you.

It's a big mistake to upgrade to XP without first deleting and disconnecting
your printers, but unfortunately, most people don't find out until too late!
